Dance Physiotherapy
When you have a dance injury, it makes the world of difference to be able to talk to your treating practitioner in the language of your art. To be able to say that “your hip clicks only on the gesture leg of a rond de jambe en l’air” without a confused look coming across their face, can be a great relief!
Our Dance Physiotherapist, Annabel, has a special interest in treating all types of Performing Artists, from classical ballet dancers to hiphop performers and musicians. Having a strong & varied background in dance, gymnastics and music from a young age, she can help you to achieve your goals and excel as a performer!!
We offer :
• Assessment and treatment of dance and performing artists’ injuries
• Dance technique assessment
• Pre-pointe assessment
• Dance conditioning and flexibility assessment and training
• Dance Education: technique and pilates workshops/classes
• Dance Screening: for University and Full-time Course admissions
What is a Dance Physiotherapist?
Often, a dance physiotherapist will have a background as a dancer or an involvement in the performing arts prior to their attainment of a Physiotherapy Degree. This allows them to be experts in the assessment and treatment of dance injuries, as well as be able to identify and screen any issues present and prevent them from becoming injuries.
Dance Education
Learn how to get the most out of your dancing, improve areas of technique such as turnout and flexibility and prevent injury.
Dance education workshops and lectures are a great way to learn more about how to get the most out of your dancing, improve areas of technique such as turnout and flexibility and prevent injury.
Workshops can be held at your own dance studio with small groups of 5-15 students. Every workshop includes a theory component (eg. anatomy of the turnout muscles) and a practical component.
